USC Boys Wrestling Falls to Mount Lebanon in Close Match
Boys Varsity WrestlingThe Upper St. Clair Boys Wrestling team traveled to Mount Lebanon last night for a match with their rivals. The Panthers won six matches last night, five coming by way of pin, but ultimately fell 39-36 to the Blue Devils. Spencer Hills (114), Matteo Amorosa (133), Kurt Baran (139), Derek Worstell (152), and Bryce Catanzaro (189) were the Panthers winning by pin. Upper St. Clair will be back in action this weekend when they will participate in the Allegheny County Tournament held at Fox Chapel High School.

Girls Varsity WrestlingThe Upper St. Clair Girls Wrestling team traveled to Mount Lebanon last night to square off with the Blue Devils. The Panthers received seven wins via forfeit and Genevieve Hanson (148) pinned her opponent to en route to a 48-25 win. Upper St. Clair will return to the mat on February 1 as they will participate in the North Allegheny Tournament.

Girls Varsity BasketballThe Upper St. Clair Girls Basketball team hosted Connellsville tonight in a section matchup. The Panthers dominated for all 32 minutes as they defeated the Falcons 63-23. Rylee Kalocay led all scorers with 22 points and Meredith Huzjak and Olivia Terlecki each chipped in 10. The Panthers now move to 11-2 (5-0) and will be back in action on Saturday when they will travel to Chartiers Valley for a non-section game. Tip off is scheduled for 2:30 pm.

CoEd Varsity RifleThe Upper St. Clair Rifle Team traveled to Plum yesterday and came home with a win 790- 787 win. Senior Logan Wells led the scoring with 100 - 6x. Scoring contributions also came from seniors Sam Crossley, Molly Walsh, Ari Madaras, Ben Waldron, Erin Shehab, junior Harrisoin Barker and sophomore rookie Colin Donnelly. The Panthers will look to build off their win on Thursday when they will take on Indiana.

In a low scoring affair, the Panthers came home with a 37-29 win as Tyler Robbins led the way with 13 points. The Panthers now move to 14-1 (7-0) and will start the second half of section play when they will travel to Pittsburgh Central Catholic on Friday. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

The Panthers now move to 10-2 (4-0) and will be back in action Wednesday when they will host Connellsville. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

Boys Varsity WrestlingThe Upper St. Clair Boys Wrestling team competed in the Burgettstown Invitational this past weekend. Derek Worstell (152) came away with a 3rd place finish as he went 4-2 with one of his wins coming by pin, one by technical fall, and two by decision throughout the tournament. The Panthers as a team finished in 27th place and will be back in action on Wednesday when they will travel to Mount Lebanon.

Hanson Wins Blue Devil Girls Wrestling Winter Classic
Girls Varsity WrestlingCongratulations to Upper St. Clair Girls Wrestler Genevieve Hanson (148) as she won the Blue Devil Girls Wrestling Winter Classic this past weekend at Mt. Lebanon High School. Hanson went 3-0 on the day, winning all her matches by pin as she claimed the 148 pound title. Grace Nasman (142) also had a strong showing taking 3rd place after a 4-1 day. The Panthers as a team performed very well, taking 4th place out of 24 teams and will look to keep their momentum going on Wednesday when they will head back to Mount Lebanon for a dual match with the Blue Devils.

The Panthers got off to a rather slow start as they trailed the Spartans by one at halftime. Once the second half started, however, it was all Panthers as they outscored Hempfield 45-19 in the last 16 minutes en route to a 75-50 win. Tyler Robbins and Jake Foster led Upper St. Clair in the scoring department as they each scored 16 points and Julian Dahlem chipped in 12 points of his own. The Panthers now move to 13-1 (6-0) and will be back in action on Tuesday when they will travel to Mount Lebanon. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

CoEd Varsity RifleThe Upper St. Clair Rifle team traveled to Hempfield yesterday. The Panthers came up short 798 to 796 as Senior Erin Shehab led the scoring (100-9x). Seniors Logan Wells (100-8x), Ben Waldron (100-7x), Ari Madaras (100-5x) and junior Hayate Svitek (100-5x) each contributed top marks to the total as well. Also contributing to score were Colin Donnelly (99-6x), Sam Crossley (99-4x) and Christian Levkulich (98-4x). The Panthers will travel to Plum this Tuesday in the first of two section matches for this pairing.

The Panthers dominated from start to finish, leading by 33 after three quarters before finishing the game with a 20-point win. Rylee Kalcoay finished the night with 21 points and Grace Howell added 15 to round out the double-digit scorers. The Panthers, who have been working hard at practice, kept their composure and saw their work pay off as they defeated the Indians. Upper St. Clair will look to build of last nights win next Wednesday when they will travel to Montour. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start.

Boys Varsity BasketballThe Upper St. Clair Boys Basketball team hosted Imani Christian tonight in a battle between the top two teams in Class 6A Section 2. The Panthers dominated from start to finish, defeating the Saints 74-32. Niko Gidas and Tyler Robbins led the way as they each scored 23 points. Gidas connected on 6 three pointers while Robbins threw down multiple thunderous dunks in the win. The Panthers now take sole possession of first place in the section and improve to 12-1 (5-0) on the season. Upper St. Clair will return to the court on Friday when they will host Hempfield. The Upper St. Clair Boys Basketball team will be hosting their annual Tip-Off Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The Panthers are scheduled to play Kiski Area High School on Friday at 7:00 pm and will play either Bethel Park or Seton LaSalle on Saturday at 2:30 pm. Please note that all tickets for the Tip-Off Tournament will be $5.00 - CASH ONLY. No Credit Cards, Panther Passes, or Gold Cards will be accepted.

USC Rowing Competes at Head of the Ohio Race
The Upper Saint Clair Rowing Association crew had a fantastic experience and outcome at the recently concluded 2024 Head of the Ohio Race, also popularly referred to as HOTO, on Sunday, Oct 6th, 2024. HOTO is a premier rowing regatta held annually on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh. It attracts competitive rowers from across the country, ranging from high school teams to elite rowing clubs and universities. This year the USC Rowing crew teamed up with Pittsburgh Rowing Club (PRC) rowers and won several races, including several top finishes, as the crew navigated the challenging 2.6-mile course through the heart of the city with stunning backdrop of Pittsburgh’s iconic bridges and skyline.
