USC Girls Lacrosse Advances to WPIAL Semifinals
Girls Varsity LacrosseThe Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Penn Trafford tonight in a WPIAL Quarterfinal matchup. The Panthers, who rolled to a victory earlier in the season over the Warriors, started slow, but used a big second half to pull away for a 14-7 win. Mea Musillo led the charge, scoring 4 goals, and Riley Powell added 3 of her own. Anna Capobres and Sierra Besselman also chipped in 2 goals a piece in the win. The victory advances Upper St. Clair to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will square off with rival Mount Lebanon. The game will take place on Monday, May 19th with the site and time to be determined.

USC Track and Field Claims Three Individual WPIAL Titles
CoEd Varsity Track And FieldThe Upper St. Clair Track and Field team competed in the Individual WPIAL Championships yesterday and claimed three titles. Sadie Tomczyk grabbed two of her own, winning gold in the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Anna Engelman won gold in the triple jump, setting a USC School Record, as they both punched their ticket to the State Championships. The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Jameson Tisdale, Noor El Nokali, Sadie Tomczyk, and Avery Bayer took home a third place finish and so did Tayla Kurzawa in the high jump as they all qualified for the State Championships, Kurzawa competed in the triple jump as well, finishing with a medal in 6th place. Meredith Rhodes and Carter Kashak also medaled, both taking home 8th place finishes with Rhodes medaling in the 3200 meter run and Kashak medaling in the 800 meter run. Boys Varsity LacrosseThe Upper St. Clair Boys Lacrosse team hosted Fox Chapel last night in a WPIAL Quarterfinal Matchup. The Panthers, who fell to the Foxes earlier in the year, came out firing and took control early leading them to an 11-6 win. Ryan Buonomo led the way, scoring 4 goals, and Oscar Leimkuehler and Holden Rickel each scored 2 goals in the win. The Panthers now advance to the WPIAL Semifinals where they will take on Shady Side Academy on Monday. The time and place of the game is still to be determined.

USC Baseball Falls in WPIAL First Round
Boys Varsity BaseballThe Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to West Mifflin High School last night to take on Thomas Jefferson in the First Round of the WPIAL Playoffs. Brayden Wells took the mound and threw a solid 5 innings, allowing 3 runs and striking out 7 to keep the Panthers within striking distance. Upper St. Clair's offense was limited, however, as they had only 5 hits in the game. Cooper Stutzman went 2-3, Nolan Wilson doubled, and Tanner Schroeck tripled to lead the Panthers, but they ultimately fell 4-1 to the Jaguars. Upper St. Clair finishes their season with an overall record of 13-7.

USC Boys Volleyball Falls in First Round of WPIAL Playoffs
Boys Varsity VolleyballThe Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team traveled to Hempfield last night for a matchup with the 4th seed Spartans in the First Round of the WPIAL Playoffs. The Panthers had a tall task but played well in a back-and-forth match. The first set did not go the Panthers way as they fell 25-11, but they rebounded in set two to even the match with a 25-22 win. The third and fourth sets were tightly contested but the Spartans were able to grab the set three win 33-31 and the set four win 25-23 to claim a 3-1 victory over the Panthers. Upper St. Clair finishes their season with an overall record of 5-9.

Boys Varsity VolleyballThe Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team traveled to Mount Lebanon last night for a section matchup with the Blue Devils. The Panthers, who controlled their own destiny to make the playoffs, were unable to grab the win, falling 3-1. However, because Peters Township defeated Baldwin, the Panthers have still qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs and will await their seeding when the brackets are released today.

USC Softball Routs Peters Township
Girls Varsity SoftballThe Upper St. Clair Softball team hosted Peters Township yesterday for the teams final game of the 2025 season. The Panthers finished stong, defeating the Indians 10-0. Brooklyn Kemp threw a gem as she hit a milestone, recording her 300th career strikeout in the 2nd inning. The Panthers also had 3 players on offense record multi-hit games as Caroline Barnard led the bunch going 2-3 with a double and 3 RBI's. Nora Stutzman and Geneva Eisinger both went 2-3 and Eisinger drove in a run as well. Upper St. Clair finishes their season with a 9-8 overall record.

USC Baseball Sweeps North Catholic
Boys Varsity BaseballThe Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted North Catholic today in a doubleheader at Boyce-Mayview Park. In Game 1, the Panthers came away with an extra-inning, 7-6, win as Nolan Wilson drove in Luke Marchinsky in the bottom of the 8th to walk it off. In Game 2, the Panthers got a solid start on the mound from Grayson Valancius as he went 5 innings and allowed 1 run (0 earned) en route to a 2-1 win. Upper St. Clair will now await their playoff fate as the brackets are set to be released tomorrow.

Ryan Buonomo led the way with 5 goals, Nathan Haberman followed with 3, and Evan Proud chipped in 2. The Panthers will now turn their attention to the WPIAL Playoffs where they are the #3 seed and will take on #6 seed Fox Chapel at Upper St. Clair High School on Wednesday, May 14.

USC Baseball Clinches Postseason Berth
Boys Varsity BaseballThe Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Chartiers Valley today in a doubleheader that saw the Panthers needing one win to clinch a playoff position. The Panthers not only won the first game 4-1, but took the second game as well, 7-2. Upper St. Clair showed dominance on the mound today as Brayden Wells tossed 6 โ innings, allowing 1 run (0 earned) in Game 1 and Nolan Wilson threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts in Game 2. The Panthers will be back in action tomorrow for a non-section game against North Catholic.

The Panthers now move to 10-6 on the season and will return home for Senior Night on Thursday when they will take on Seneca Valley.

Girls Varsity LacrosseThe Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team capped off a perfect section season tonight as they defeated Baldwin 19-3, to claim the outright section title. The Panthers started the game strong, scoring the first 12 goals of the game. Peyton Stanek led the way with 4 goals and Sierra Besselman, Katie Sweeney, and Riley Hoffman each chipped in 2 in the victory. The win brings the Panthers record to 15-1 (10-0) and they will be back in action tomorrow for their regular season finale against Fox Chapel.

The Tigers were a tall task as they defeated the Panthers 2 weeks ago in the regular season and even though the Panthers hung tough yesterday, they ultimately fell 4-0. Shawn Khurana won the lone set for the Panthers yesterday, but his match was unable to continue into the third set due to weather.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and The Mentoring Partnership are teaming up with The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Giant Eagle and Spread Group to build its inaugural Steelers Girls' Flag All-Peer Team featuring 7 high school girls flag football players from around the region who go above and beyond in providing mentor-like support to their teammates. Huzjak played a key role in launching the girls flag football team at Upper St. Clair, leading recruitment efforts and organizing logistics. USC Rowing Competes at Head of the Ohio Race
The Upper Saint Clair Rowing Association crew had a fantastic experience and outcome at the recently concluded 2024 Head of the Ohio Race, also popularly referred to as HOTO, on Sunday, Oct 6th, 2024. HOTO is a premier rowing regatta held annually on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh. It attracts competitive rowers from across the country, ranging from high school teams to elite rowing clubs and universities. This year the USC Rowing crew teamed up with Pittsburgh Rowing Club (PRC) rowers and won several races, including several top finishes, as the crew navigated the challenging 2.6-mile course through the heart of the city with stunning backdrop of Pittsburgh’s iconic bridges and skyline.
