USC Boys Lacrosse Falls to Shady Side Academy

The Upper St. Clair Boys Lacrosse team hosted Shady Side Academy on Saturday at Panther Stadium. The Panthers got off to a good start, leading 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulldogs then took control and ultimately won the game, 15-9. Beckett Mayfield led Upper St. Clair with three goals and Luke DeRubeis and Max Lane each netted two in the defeat. The loss brings the Panthers record to 4-4 on the season and they will look to rebound on Monday when they travel to Penn Trafford.

Aaron Goettler threw 4 ⅓ innings and Tanner Schroeck got the final two outs to complete a combined no-hitter as the Upper St. Clair Baseball team defeated Keystone Oaks, 14-0, in five innings on Thursday. Goettler also went 2-3 at the plate and drove in a run and Nolan Wilson had two hits as well and scored three runs. Nico D'Orazio, Cooper Stutzman, and Maddox Orendi all doubled and D'Orazio had three RBI's in the victory. The Panthers now move to 4-5 on the season and will return to section play on Monday when they open up their two-game series with Peters Township by hosting them at Boyce-Mayview Park.

The Upper St. Clair Softball team played its third game in four days on Thursday as they hosted Moon. Caroline Barnard went 2-3 with a home run, double, and two RBI's and Brooklyn Kemp also had two hits, but the Panthers ultimately fell, 4-3 to the Tigers. Kemp also pitched a complete game, allowing only two earned runs, and struck out three. The Panthers now fall to 4-7 on the season and will look to bounce back on Monday when they travel to South Fayette.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Lacrosse team hosted Mars on Thursday night at Panther Stadium. The Panthers started strong, leading 3-2 in the first half, but Mars was then able to take control and defeated the Panthers, 12-9. Logan Stewart led Upper St. Clair with three goals and Beckett Mayfield and Max Lane each scored two in the loss. The Panthers, who now fall to 3-4 on the season, will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Shady Side Academy.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team traveled to Bethel Park on Wednesday for a section matchup with the Blackhawks. The Panthers bounced back from Tuesday's loss at Mount Lebanon, defeating Bethel Park, 3-1. The win brings the Panthers record to 7-3 (3-2) and they will be back in action on Monday when they host Moon in a non-section game.

Congratulations to Charlotte Swanson for reaching the 100 career save mark in the first quarter of Wednesday's Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse win against Bethel Park. The Panthers took home a 14-10 victory as Riley Powell led the way offensively with four goals. Brianna Kuczinski followed Powell with a hat trick and Sarah McShane and Sidney Schalk each scored two goals in the win. The Panthers now move to 7-1 on the season and will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Canon-McMillan.

Brooklyn Kemp tossed a complete game, striking out 11, as the Upper St. Clair Softball team took down West Allegheny, 13-12, on Wednesday night. The Panthers pounded out 14 hits in the win as five players had a multi-hit game. Caroline Barnard led the way with three hits and two RBI's while Nora Stutzman, Amelia Wright, Geneva Eisinger, and Ella Schlecker all had two hits. The win now brings the Panthers record to 4-6 on the season and they will look to continue their momentum on Thursday when they host Moon.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to South Fayette on Wednesday to continue their game that was postponed on Tuesday. The Panthers suffered another close loss, this time falling by a score of 7-6. Grayson Valancius powered the Panther offense, going 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI's. Valancius also started the game on the mound, throwing two innings on Tuesday, before he was relieved by Max Dietrick when the game was resumed. Dietrick finished the game as he threw the remaining four innings, allowing two runs on only two hits. The Panthers will return to the diamond on Thursday when they host Keystone Oaks in a non-section matchup.

The Upper St. Clair Flag Football team hosted Peters Township on Tuesday night and came away with another big victory. The Panthers defeated the Indians, 34-6, as Chloe Bird threw four touchdown passes to lead the team. Gianna Cardello, Claire Birmingham, Lilly Kushner, and Ryan Prunzik were the recipients of the scores and Cam Friday added a two-point conversion as well. Prunzik also returned a punt for a touchdown and Bird and Jillian Casey had interceptions on defense. The Panthers now move to 7-0 on the season and will return to the field on Monday when they travel to South Fayette.

Riley Powell scored two goals and had two assists, including her 100th career point, as the Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team defeated Hempfield, 26-1, Monday night at Panther Stadium. 20 different Panthers found the back of the net with Sierra Besselman, Natalie Barefoot, Maria Garcia, Brianna Kuczinski, and Emma Nadler each scoring two goals. The Panthers now move to 6-1 on the season and will look to continue their hot streak on Wednesday when they host Bethel Park.

Mia Huzjak threw four touchdown passes on Monday evening as the Upper St. Clair Flag Football team defeated Monessen, 44-12, to move to 6-0 on the season. Ryan Prunzik caught three of those touchdowns and converted two 2-point conversions as well. Lilly Kushner had a great all-around game as she threw a touchdown, caught a touchdown, and recorded an interception on defense. Anelise Castrodale and Gianna Cardello also each caught one touchdown and Claire Birmingham and Sydney Nash both recorded interceptions in the victory. The Panthers will continue their busy week on Tuesday night when they host Peters Township.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted South Fayette on Monday in the opening game of the two-game series against the Lions. The Lions jumped on the Panthers early and held their lead throughout the game, taking home a 17-6 win. Evan Smirniw had two hits and an RBI and James Gardner doubled in the loss. The Panthers now fall to 3-4 (2-3) on the season and will look to rebound on Tuesday when they travel to South Fayette for game two of the series.

The Upper St. Clair Softball team traveled to Montour on Monday to take on the Spartans. The Panthers fell behind early, trailing by three runs entering the sixth inning, but put together a rally to tie the game after the top of the sixth. Ultimately, the Spartans answered with eight runs in the bottom of the sixth and finished with an 11-4 win over the Panthers. Alexa Demas went 3-4 with a double and three RBI's in the loss and Rachel Scharrer also had a multi-hit game, going 2-3. The Panthers now fall to 3-6 on the season and will look to rebound on Wednesday when they travel to West Allegheny.

The Upper St. Clair Track and Field team competed in the Tri-State Invitational on Saturday, held at West Mifflin High School. Sadie Tomczyk and Nolan Sarkett each took home first place finishes with Tomczyk winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Sarkett winning the mile run. Tomczyk also finished fifth in the 400 meter run and Sarkett finished fourth in the two mile run, capping off a fantastic event for the duo. The following Panthers also had medal finishes in the event:Carter Kashak - 4th in the 800 metersBryce Jones - 5th in the 100 metersLily Kushner - 6th in the javelinThe Panthers will return to action on Thursday when they will travel to Thomas Jefferson for a section tri-meet with the Jaguars and Bethel Park. The Panthers now move to 5-1 on the season and will return home on Monday to take on Hempfield.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Volleyball team hosted Canon-McMillan on Thursday night in a key section matchup. After dropping the first set 25-18, the Panthers rallied to take the next three consecutive sets from the Big Macs by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-20. The win brings the Panthers record to 6-2 (2-1) on the season and they will return home on Saturday for the annual USC Tournament. Following that, the team will resume section play on Tuesday when they travel to Mount Lebanon.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Trinity on Thursday night looking for a series sweep of the Hillers. Following their 4-0 win on Wednesday, the Panthers picked up right where they left off, scoring an 11-1 mercy-rule victory tonight. Nico D'Orazio and Evan Smirniw led the way with two hits each, with D'Orazio adding a double and two RBI's and Smirniw driving in three runs. Grayson Valancius got the start on the mound and threw a complete game, allowing three hits and striking out five. The Panthers now move to 3-3 (2-2) and will return to the diamond on Monday as they host South Fayette.

The Upper St. Clair Flag Football team took the field for the first time in two weeks on Thursday night as they traveled to Bethel Park. The Panthers played in their closest game of the season but still came away with a 27-19 win. Chloe Bird threw three touchdown passes with two going to Avery Bayer and one going to Camryn Friday, while Ryan Prunzik and Gianna Cardello each converted point-after attempts. Prunzik and Cardello were also forces on defense as Cardello provided pressure throughout the game and Prunzik sealed the victory with a pick-six in the 4th quarter. The win brings the Panthers record to 5-0 on the season and they will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Monessen.

The Upper St. Clair Softball team pounded out 11 hits and scored 10 runs on Thursday as they defeated Chartiers Valley, 10-9. Four Panthers had multi-hit games as Nora Stutzman, Caroline Barnard, Alexa Demas, and Brooklyn Kemp each had two hits and Stutzman added three RBI's to lead the charge. Kemp also threw a complete game, allowing only two earned runs and striking out eight. The Panthers now move to 3-5 (1-3) and will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Montour.

The Athletic Registration Fee Portal for 2025-26 is now open. Please go to the Registration tab on uscsdathletics.com to enter information. Any student at USC High School who is participating in athletics will need to submit the 2025-26 Athletic Registration Fee using the form on the Registration tab. The athletic fee is $75 per athlete, per sport, per season. For example, if an athlete plays a sport in the fall and/or winter, they still owe $75 for playing a spring sport. The fee must be paid prior to the first contest.
