Last Saturday the Upper St Clair Crew participated in the 23rd annual Erg in the Burgh hosted by North Allegheny. They competed against 10 other schools and club teams including Allderdice, Central Catholic, Fox Chapel, Mt Lebanon, North Allegheny, North Catholic, Pine Richland and 3 club teams from the region. There were 15 events with hundreds of entries overall. USC had outstanding results! Especially our middle school developmental team! Congratulations to the team and the coaching staff, (who also medaled) Some of the highlights included:
·1st place gold medal- Jadyn Barrett, Women's 8th grade event
Mason Irwin, 6&7th grade Men's event
·2nd place silver medal- Aryajeet Tatipamula-8th grade men's
·3nd place bronze medal- Willow Conley-Women's Varsity,
Linus Rizer 8th grade Men's
Florin Cureau, Coaches event
·4th place- Aiden Hughes-Men's Coxswain event,
Collin Donnelly- Men's Lt. Novice
Adelaide McCallum- 6&7th Women's event
James Connor - 6&7th grade men's event
Rana Choudary Parchuri -8th grade men's event
USC- Middle school relay and JV varsity relay
This was the final indoor competition for the team. They will continue to train indoors for the next few weeks and will head back to our boathouse on the Ohio River mid March.Spring is the primary season for the sport of Rowing and we could not be more excited to hit the water again! We are looking forward to a full schedule of competition and top results which includes;
·The Pittsburgh Sprints at Moraine State Park
·The Midwest Scholastic Championship in Milford, MI
·The Mercyhurst Invitational in Erie, PA
·National Championships in NJ
The team will be offering multiple Free Learn to Row Classes for interested High School and Fort Couch students as the spring season winds down and into the summer. In addition, our partner Pittsburgh Rowing Club, will be offering several flexible camp options during the summer for all levels of athletes (no experience required!)
