USC Swimming and Diving Takes on Peters Township

The Upper St. Clair Girls and Boys Swimming and Diving Team hosted Peters Township earlier this week and split their dual meets. The boys won by a score of 105-78 to improve their record to 5-2, while the girls fell by a score of 116-70 dropping their record to 1-6. Sophomore diver Carter Wells led the charge for the boys by virtue of his victory in diving, in which he smashed the pool record by over 10 points with a personal best score of 291.75. He was followed in 2nd place by Senior Kobe Yuyi, who also scored a personal best with 249.00 points. Additional event winners for the boys include the 200 Medley, 200 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle relays, as well as individual event winners Nazar Zoukovski (100 and 200 free), Griffin Tomsheck (50 free, 100 breaststroke) and Ben Whiteford (100 fly, 100 back). The girls started the meet with a 1-2-3 finish in the diving event. Junior Bella Meyer won the event with a personal best score of 237.70, followed closely by Junior Delaney Burnette (236.80) and Sophomore Livia Tranquilli (202.95). Additional event winners for the girls include Maren Davis in the 200 IM (with a season best time of 2:22.41) and Gaja Kopera in the 100 breast (1:09.48). The girls quartet of Maren Davis, Clare Larsen, Maddie Dow and Gaja Kopera also won the 200 Free relay with a time of 1:48.37. The team's next meet is at Section rival Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday, January 29 starting at 5 p.m.
