USC Girls Wrestling Competes in WPIAL Championships; Hanson advances to Western Regional

The Upper St. Clair Girls Wrestling team sent eight qualifiers to the first ever WPIAL Girls Wrestling Tournament held on Saturday at North Allegheny High School. Sofia Osto (118 lb) picked up two victories by pin and Elena Wetzel (155 lb), Gosia Romek (170 lb) and Genevieve Hanson (142 lb) each recorded a pin throughout the tournament. Hanson took home a 6th place finish in her weight class which has qualified her for the Western Regional Tournament on March 2nd at Canon-McMillan High School. Other Panthers that competed this past weekend were Evis Ackerman (100 lb), Defne Aksoy (112 lb), Esther Knight (124 lb), and Mariana Ortegon (148 lb). Congratulations to all Panther wrestlers who competed in the WPIAL Girls Wresting Tournament and good luck to Genevieve Hanson in the Western Regional Tournament.
