USC Girls Lacrosse Falls in Overtime to Shady Side Academy

Panthers Lose: 10 - 11
The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Shady Side Academy tonight at Panther Stadium in a WPIAL Quarterfinal matchup. The Panthers took a 5-2 lead at the half before Shady Side mounted their comeback. After 50 minutes, the teams were tied 10-10 and the game headed to overtime. Shady Side would score in the second overtime period to take home an 11-10 victory over the Panthers. Anna Capobres led the charge tonight with four goals and Katie Sweeney followed her with two of her own. Calla Dressler, Sarah McShane, Morgan Huzjak, and Molly Powell would also find the back of the net, each scoring a goal. The Panthers finish their 2023 season with a 13-3 record.

Panthers Win: 21 - 12
The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Chartiers Valley today in their final scheduled regular season game. The Panther offense was firing on all cylinders as they took home a 21-12 victory. Katie Sweeney led the charge with five goals while Mea Musillo, Molly Powell, and Anna Capobres all scored four each. Senior Alex Forney also recorded a goal in the win. The Panthers finish their regular season with a record of 13-2 and will await their playoff seeding when they are released next week.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Bethel Park tonight to take on the Blackhawks. The Panthers controlled the game from start to finish and came away with a 16-3 victory. Anna Capobres led the team with five goals, Molly Powell and Calla Dressler netted three each, and Katie Sweeney chipped in two. The Panthers now move to 12-2 and will be back in action on Saturday when they will host Chartiers Valley. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Canon-McMillan tonight in a key section matchup. The Panthers were able to control the game from start to finish and came away with a 16-8 win. Four Panthers would record multi-goal games in the win. Anna Capobres led the way with five, Katie Sweeney would follow her with four, Kat Mammarella chipped in three, and Molly Powell rounded out the group with two. The Panthers now move to 11-2 on the season and will return to action on Monday when they will travel to Bethel Park. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Norwin tonight as the team honored its Senior Class consisting of Kara Fisher, Alex Forney, and Morgan Huzjak before the game. The Panthers would come out strong and continue their dominance throughout the game as they came away with a 20-6 victory. Anna Caprobres would net four goals to lead a balanced scoring attack. Huzjak, along with Molly Powell, Katie Sweeney, Sarah McShane, Kat Mammarella, and Calla Dressler would all score two goals each in the win. Fisher would also find the back of the net as she chipped in with a goal. The Panthers now move to 9-1 on the season and will be back in action on Friday when they will travel to Mount Lebanon. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

Panthers Lose: 11 - 12
The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Pine Richland last night in a matchup between two of the top programs in the WPIAL. The matchup lived up to the hype as the teams played back and forth throughout the night but the Panthers ended up falling 12-11. Sophomore Anna Capobres would score her 100th career goal during the game and finished the night with seven goals to lead the Panthers. Molly Powell and Mea Musillo would each chip in two goals to round out the scoring for Upper St. Clair. The Panthers now move to 8-1 on the season and will be back in action Monday when they will host Norwin. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted Peters Township last night as they looked to keep their undefeated record in tact. A close game ensued in the first half, but as the game progressed the Panthers pulled away and took home a 16-11 victory. Four Panthers recorded multi-goal games as Anna Capobres led the charge with five, Kat Mammarella would notch three of her own, and Sarah McShane and Sara Groninger each netted two. The Panthers will be back in action on Friday where they will host Pine-Richland in a matchup that will feature two of the top teams in the WPIAL. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Panthers Win: 9 - 3
The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Sewickley today and continued their strong stretch of play to start the season. The girls would take home a 9-3 victory as Megan Cassady recorded eight saves on the day. Anna Capobres and Kat Mammarella would each notch mutli-goal games as Caporbres led the way with five and Mammarella scored two. Caprobres would also reach a career milestone during the game as she recorded her 100th career point as a Panther. The win moves the Panthers to 6-0 and they will be back in action on Tuesday when they will host Shady Side Academy at Boyce Middle School. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Fox Chapel last night for a matchup between two of the top teams in the WPIAL. Last season, these teams faced off in the Quarterfinals of the WPIAL Playoffs which saw the Panthers come away with a 22-17 victory. Last nights result was similar, as the Panthers defeated the Foxes 12-8. Anna Capobres led the charge as she netted seven goals. Katie Sweeney and Calla Dressler would each score two goals as well contributing to the win. Ava Keister stayed strong in net, stopping four shots total throughout the game. The Panthers now move to 5-0 and will be back in action on Wednesday as they will travel to Sewickley Academy. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.

Kat Mammarella would lead the team in the scoring department with five goals. Morgan Huzjak, Molly Powell, Anna Capobres, Katie Sweeney, and Maddie Webb would all notch two goals each on the night. Stella Moss, Bella Stewart, and Sarah McShane would all record their first career varsity goals in the win. The girls continued their strong start to the season as they came home with a 13-5 victory. A balanced scoring attack paved the way for the Panthers as four girls recorded multiple goals. Anna Capobres led the way with four, Kat Mamarella followed her with three, and Mea Musillo and Morgan Huzjak netted two each. The Panthers now move to 3-0 and will be back in action Wednesday when they will host Baldwin. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team traveled to Plum last night as they looked to continue their strong start to the 2023 season. The girls did just that as they came home with a 14-9 win with Anna Capobres leading the charge, as she accounted for six Panther goals. Mea Musillo would follow her as she netted three goals, while Molly Powell and Morgan Huzjak each scored two. Calla Dressler and Katie Sweeney would round out the scoring as they both scored one goal a piece. Megan Cassady controlled the net for the Panthers, stopping eight Mustang shots throughout the game. The win moves the Panthers to 2-0 on the year and they will be back on the road Saturday where they will travel to take on Shaler. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Girls Lacrosse team hosted North Allegheny last night for the teams opening game of the 2023 season. A balanced scoring attack led the girls to a 9-4 victory over the Tigers. Molly Powell led the Panther charge as she notched four goals, while Anna Capobres tallied two, and Katie Sweeney, Kat Mammarella, and Calla Dressler each scored one. Ava Keister provided solid play in goal as she registered five saves. The Panthers will be back in action on Wednesday when they will travel to Plum. Game time is scheduled for 7:15 PM.
