USC Baseball Falls in WPIAL Quarterfinals

Panthers Lose: 0 - 6
The Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to Peterswood Park yesterday for their WPIAL Quarterfinal matchup with Bethel Park. The two teams met early on in the season as Bethel Park grabbed two close victories over the Panthers. With hopes of making another deep playoff run, the Panthers looked to avenge those two April losses, but ultimately the Blackhawks pulled out another victory over Upper St. Clair, 6-0. The Panthers season comes to an end with an overall record of 10-12.

Panthers Win: 9 - 7
The Upper St. Clair Baseball team squared off against North Hills tonight in the first round of the WPIAL Playoffs. After falling behind 7-2 after five innings, the Panthers put up a seven run sixth inning to lead them to a 9-7 victory. Michael Albert, Eli Mandler, and Owen Mandler would all drive in two runs on hits in the sixth inning with Albert delivering a pinch-hit single, Eli Mandler recording a double, and Owen Mandler notching a single as well. Brayden Wells got the start on the mound for the Panthers as he would go three innings and Pete Janoski would relieve him by throwing the last four innings en route to picking up the win. The Panthers now advance to the WPIAL Quarterfinals where they will meet a familiar foe in #2 seed Bethel Park. The site and time of the game are still to be determined.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Peters Township last night in a section matchup at Boyce-Mayview Park. Braeden Coyle would drive in two runs, including one on a walk-off single in the eighth inning to give the Panthers a 2-1 victory. Peter Janoski threw all eight innings on the mound as he stuck out nine and only allowed four hits in the outing. The Panthers now move to 9-6 (3-4) and will be back in action tonight when they will travel to Peters Township. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
USC Baseball Walks it Off Against Trinity

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Trinity last night at Boyce-Mayview Park. After falling 5-4 on Tuesday night to Trinity, the team needed a win to split the season series with the Hillers. In another close game, the Panthers came out on top 4-3 as Christian Wieczenski would hit a walk off sacrifice fly to win the game for Upper St. Clair. The Panthers will be back in action today when they will host West Mifflin. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Seton LaSalle last night in a non-section matchup at Boyce-Mayview Park. The Panthers took home a 4-3 win as John McShane, Christian Wieczenski, and Hunter Schroeck each drove in a run and recorded a hit in the victory. With the win the Panthers move to 7-4 on the season and will be back in action on Monday when they will host Trinity in a section matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to Connellsville today for the second game of the season series between the two teams. Last night the Panthers came away with a 9-2 victory. Today, Connellsville grabbed a 5-4 win as the teams split the series. John McShane and Ty Lagoni led the Panthers offensively as they each collected two hits and each drove in a run. Owen Mandler would get the start on the mound as he would go 5.2 innings allowing four runs, while striking out three. The Panthers will have a quick turnaround as they will host a non-section game against Seton Lasalle tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Connellsville in a section matchup tonight at Boyce-Mayview Park. The Panthers came away with a 9-2 victory as Braeden Coyle would drive in three runs and register two hits in the win. Peter Janoski would get the win on the mound for Upper St. Clair as he tossed 5 2/3 innings while allowing two runs and striking out six. The Panthers will now travel to Connellsville tomorrow as they look to sweep the season series with the Falcons. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team got back on track tonight as they hosted Meadville High School at Boyce-Mayview Park. The Panthers came away with a 13-3 win as they registered 11 hits as a team. Tim Speer, Owen Mandler, Braeden Coyle, and John McShane all recorded multi-hit games and McShane led the way with three RBI's. The Panthers move to 5-3 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday when they will host Connellsville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to Bethel Park today for their second matchup with the Blackhawks in as many days. Coming off a 3-0 defeat yesterday, the Panthers would look to split the season series with a win today. Another low scoring affair ensued and Bethel Park would take down the Panthers 3-2. Peter Janoski got the start on the mound for Upper St. Clair and went all seven innings in his outing, allowing three runs while striking out three as well. Tim Speer would drive in both Panther runs with a single in the sixth inning. The Panthers now fall to 4-3 (0-2) and will be back in action on Thursday when they will host Meadville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Canon-McMillan last night in a non-section matchup. The Panthers, who played their third game in as many days, let one inning be their downfall last night. After each team scored two runs in the first inning, the next four were played without any score. In the top of the sixth, however, Canon-McMillan would plate five runs to aid them to a 9-2 victory over the Panthers. Owen Mandler would single and drive in a run for the Panthers and Braden Pechart provided five quality innings on the mound. The Panthers will look to rebound as they will finish their busy week today by welcoming North Allegheny to Boyce-Mayview Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team picked up its second win in as many days today as they defeated South Park 11-4 in a non-section matchup. Eli and Owen Mandler would each reach base four times, combining for five hits, two hit by pitches, a walk, and three RBI's. Braeden Coyle and Christian Wieczenski would also record multi-hit games in the Panther victory. With the win the Panthers move to 4-0 on the year and will be back in action tomorrow when they will host Canon-McMillan. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

Panthers Win: 4 - 1
The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Chartiers Valley last night in a non-section matchup and came away with a 4-1 win. Peter Janoski got the start on the mound for the Panthers and would go six strong innings. Janoski would allow only two hits in the start while striking out three and did not allow a run. Hunter Schroeck and John McShane would each record multi-hit games for the Panthers and McShane would also drive in two runs. The Panthers now move to 3-0 on the season and will have a quick turnaround as they will be back in action today, where they will host South Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
USC Baseball Completes Season Sweep of Mt. Lebanon

Panthers Win: 5 - 2
The Upper St. Clair Baseball team hosted Mt. Lebanon today in the teams 2023 home opener. Coming off of a 4-3 victory on Friday over the Blue Devils, the Panthers looked to add another win to start their 2023 campaign. Another close game ensued as the teams were tied 2-2 after five full frames. In the bottom of the sixth inning Cooper Stutzman led things off with a double and after Owen Mandler reached base as well, Christian Wieczenski singled both of them home to give the Panthers a two-run lead. Upper St. Clair would tack on one more run in the sixth and Braden Pechart would retire the Blue Devils in order in the top of the seventh to close out the 5-2 win for the Panthers. Aiden Kappert got the start for Upper St. Clair and provided five solid innings of work, only allowing four hits in the outing. The Panthers move to 2-0 on the year and they will be back in action on Friday when they will host North Allegheny. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The Upper St. Clair Baseball team traveled to Mt. Lebanon today for their opening game of the 2023 season. The Panthers came away with a 4-3 victory as Christian Wieczenski doubled and recorded two RBI's. Upper St. Clair will have a quick turnaround as they will now host Mt. Lebanon on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
