USC Cross Country Sends Three to Compete at State Championship

Panthers Lose: -
Upper St. Clair Cross Country team members Meredith Rhodes, Lydia Rhodes, and Sawyer Weinmann all competed at the PIAA Cross Country Championship held in Hershey this past weekend. Weinmann had the best Panther performance as he came in 36th place out of 239 total boys participants. Lydia Rhodes posted the best finish on the girls side as she came in 41st place and Meredith Rhodes followed her with a 73rd place finish out of 237 total girls participants. Congratulations to Sawyer and Lydia as they both wrap up impressive careers as Panthers. Meredith will return next year for her senior season as she looks to continue her already successful career. On Thursday, the Upper St. Clair Cross Country Team competed at the WPIAL Championships.The girls team finished fifth overall in the AAA Division. Meredith Rhodes and Lydia Rhodes led the Panthers by finishing 11th and 12th respectively, and earned their tickets to the State Championships. Also pitching in on the score sheet were McKenzey Mack, Olivia Gray, and Ellla Unice. The boys team finished 5th overall in the AAA Division. Leading the Panthers was Sawyer Weinmann who finished 12th and earned a ticket to the state meet. Also scoring for the Panthers were Andrew Hess, Caleb Guarino, Ryan Arya, and John Unice. Congratulations to Meredith, Lydia, and Sawyer that will be traveling to Hershey to represent Upper St. Clair in the State Championship on Friday, November 2nd. The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team competed at the Tri-State Invite yesterday at White Oak Park. The girls team finished third overall in the AAA division and Meredith and Lydia Rhodes each took home winning trophies for their performances. McKenzey Mack, Hannah Bemm, and Olivia Gray also scored for the Panthers. On the boys side, the Panthers finished in ninth place in the AAA division. Caleb Guarino, Andrew Hess, Ryan Arya, Johnny Unice, and JP Rainone were the top five Upper St. Clair finishers. The Panthers will return to White Oak Park next Thursday for the WPIAL Championships.

The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team traveled to Mingo Park yesterday for the Mingo Classic. Both the Boys and Girls teams would go on to win the team portions of the event. Meredith Rhodes took home a first place finish in the girls race and Lydia Rhodes, McKenzey Mack, Olivia Gray, and Hannah Bemm also contributed to the win. Top finishers in the boys race were Andrew Hess, Caleb Guarino, Ryan Arya, John Unice, and Nolan Sarkett. The Panthers will be back in action at White Oak Park next Thursday for the Tri-State Invite. The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team traveled to Fairview Park yesterday to take on South Fayette and Canon-McMillan for their last section meet of the season. The boys team went on to defeat Canon-McMillan, but fell to South Fayette. Top Panther finishers were Caleb Guarino, Andrew Hess, Ryan Arya, and Nolan Sarkett. The boys Cross Country team finished with a 5-3 section record. On the girls side the Panthers took down both Canon-McMillan and South Fayette. Top Panther finishers were Meredith Rhodes, Lydia Rhodes, McKenzey Mack, Olivia Gray, and Hannah Bremm and the girls finished their section season with a 7-1 record. Upper St. Clair will be back in action next Thursday when they will travel to compete in the Mingo Classic.

The Upper Saint Clair Cross Country team traveled to White Oak Park today for a section matchup with Bethel Park and Baldwin. Both the boys and girls team earned two wins each, beating Bethel Park and Baldwin. On the girl's side the Panthers had the overall winner with Meredith Rhodes. She was followed up by Lydia Rhodes, Kenzie Mack, Olivia, Gray, and Ella Unice. The boys team also had the overall winner with Caleb Guarino. He was followed by Ryan Arya, Johnny Unice, JP Rainone, and Nolan Sarkett. Next week Upper St. Clair will travel to Fairview Park for the final section matchup with Canon-McMillan and South Fayette. The Upper St. Clair Cross-Country team traveled to Peterswood Park today for section action. On the boy's side they beat Peters Township but lost a close one to Mt. Lebanon. The top Panther finisher on the boy's side was Caleb Guarino. Next on the score sheet was Andrew Hess, Johnny Unice, JP Rainone, and Nolan Sarkett. On the girl's side the Panther's walked away with two wins. Leading the girls was Meredith Rhodes. Other panther scorers were Lydia Rhodes, McKenzey Mack, Hannah Bemm, and Olivia Gray. The girls section record is now 3-1 while the boys are now 2-2. Next week the Panthers will travel to White Oak Park to race Bethel Park and Baldwin.
USC Cross Country Hosts First Section Meet

The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team held their first section meet yesterday at Boyce Mayview Park as they squared off against Trinity and Moon. The team also honored the 2023 Seniors before the races began. Both the boys and girls team went on to defeat Trinity, but fell to Moon. Meredith Rhodes would break the school record at Boyce Mayview Park as she was the top Panther finisher. Lydia Rhodes, McKenzey Mack, Olivia Gray, and Hannah Bremm also contributed points to the team score. For the boys, Caleb Guarino led the Panther charge and Andrew Hess, John Unice, JP Rainone, and Ryan Arya pitched in points as well. The Panthers will be back in action next Tuesday when they will travel to Peterswood Park for a tri-match with Peters Township and Mount Lebanon. The race is scheduled for a 3:45 pm start.

The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team competed at the Red, White, and Blue Classic on Saturday. On the girls side, the Panthers finished 7th in the AAA division. Meredith Rhodes was the Panther's top finisher in 6th place and Lydia Rhodes took 15th place. McKenzey Mack, Olivia Gray, and Ella Unice were next on the score sheet. The boys team placed 18th in the AAA division. Caleb Guarino was the Panther's top finisher on the boys side. Andrew Hess, Ryan Arya, Jon Unice, and Nolan Sarkett were the next Upper St. Clair athletes in the chute. Next up is USC’s home opener on Tuesday against Moon and Trinity. Senior Rec will begin at the USC Boyce Mayview Park at 3:30pm. The girls race will start at 4:00 pm, followed by boys race.

The Upper St. Clair Cross Country team opened up their season on Saturday as they competed in the 51st Marty Uher Vulcans Invitational. Both the Girls and Boys teams finished 3rd overall. Meredith Rhodes won the race with a time of 19:42. In addition, Lydia Rhodes medaled with her 5th place finish and McKenzy Mack, Olivia Grey, and Ella Unice contributed to the score for the ladies. Caleb Gurino led the boys to their third-place trophy with his 13th-place finish, followed by medal winners Andrew Hess (15th) and Ryan Arya (19th). Johnny Unice and Nolan Sarkett were point scorers as well. For full results please see the link below.
