The Upper St. Clair Boys Tennis team wrapped up their 2023 season this week in the WPIAL playoffs. After a 10-1 regular season the Panthers were awarded the 4th seed in the Class 3A Boys WPIAL Team Tennis Championships. Upper St. Clair would defeat #13 seed Mars 5-0 in the first round, and #5 seed Shady Side Academy in the quarterfinals 3-2, before squaring off with #1 seed North Allegheny in the semifinals. A close match ensued but the Panthers run would come to an end as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to the Tigers. The Panthers concluded their strong 2023 campaign with a 12-2 overall record.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Tennis team has qualified two sets of doubles pairings to the WPIALs next week. Daniel Wang and Aadi Markose have moved on as well as Ronan Gibbons and Ari Plutko. Gibbons and Plutko will go into next week as section champions. The WPIAL doubles tournament will take place at Bethel Park High School next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Upper St. Clair Boys Tennis team has had a flawless start to their 2023 season to this point. The Panthers are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in section play with victories over Baldwin, Bethel Park, Thomas Jefferson, and Trinity. Each of the four matches have been 5-0 victories for the Panthers. Also, Junior Ronan Gibbons and Senior Daniel Wang competed in the section singles tournament which started today. Wang ultimately fell to Avi Sharma from Peters Township in the tournament. Gibbons would advance to the section finals, but lost in a very closely contested match to Devin Collier from Bethel Park. The match would go three sets with Gibbons dropping the first 7-5, winning the second 6-4, and dropping the third 7-5 as well.
